This Twitter user claimed this handle on Point Network, the newest implementation of web 3.0 decentralized internet, to avoid this handle from being taken by cybersquatters.
Point Network is world's first full Web 3.0 architecture.
The world is moving on from the old, insecure, mass-surveilled, heavily censored internet, to its next generation, called Web 3.0.
This decentralized internet is open, permissionless, censorship-resistant and privacy-oriented.
For a long time, despite many teams moving closer to this goal, there was no full and holistic implementation of this dream.
Many so called "web3" and "decentralized" applications still relied on the old, web2 infrastructure:
All of which has prior precedents. This is not the Web3 everyone has been dreaming about.
Because of this, Point Labs team decided to go for radical decentralization this time.
In Point Network, every major component of the internet is decentralized, featuring:
You don't have to go through Twitter activation or even have Twitter to use Point Network. You are free to register any handle that is not on Twitter and enjoy Web 3.0 right away.
However, we wanted to prevent what plagued many decentralized domain and identity systems before: cybersquatters, immediately registering thousands of handles like @elonmusk or @samsung, in hopes to sell them later for millions of dollars.
This damages the network, because if real Elon Musk or Samsung would ever want to check out Point Network and find out that their handle was taken away, this might discourage them from using it.
Which is why, for the first 6 months after the network launches, a Twitter oracle is attached to the network, to allow you to claim your Twitter handle by posting a tweet with an activation code.
After 6 months, the oracle disconnects, and all handles that would not have been claimed until then, will be released for anyone to register.
Click Download Alpha, install Point Network, and when it comes the time to pick a handle, choose the one you have on Twitter, post the activation tweet, and you will forever have ownership over this handle on Web 3.0.
